Well we spend the evening after 3 glasses of wine and poured over all the options for hiking, what trails were open and how are calves were feeling, how far the hike was and talked with others that had done it the day before. Consensus, sure why not since we are still in "training".
Up and dressed in the morning, Dan washes his glasses and promptly breaks the frame. Downstairs using google translate to find someone to fix them. Turns out in a town about 20 minutes away by train, there goes the hike. Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea after all. More so what is Dan going to do without a lens in his glasses until we can get them repaired?
Well, I did mention Dan does not know about packing light and insists on throwing all his back up everything in his bag. In this case it was a good thing, he has back up glasses and the trip to the optical store states no way to repair them. He might have duck tape in his bag but is opting to go with his old prescription and intact glasses.
We spent the day as tourist visiting Vernazza, walking the shops finishing 1/2 liter of wine with lunch (only Ellen), gelato for dessert on the way to the boat dock then back to the room for a small siesta.
Got our feet wet in the Liguria Sea, time for happy hour, then dinner. Need to be back to the hotel by 9PM so we can check out since we have a 7:30AM train and on to Venice to meet friends.
